Location

The Bower House is hidden from the road behind Greengill House on the western edge of the village of Morland, the last house on the road to Great Strickland. Parking is in the cobbled courtyard behind Greengill Barn which adjoins Greengill House, and stone steps lead to the porch of the Bower House. Movement sensitive lighting comes on in the dark. If you need level access to the Bower House, then park on the other side of Greengill House, just off the road, from where a path without steps leads to the other side of the porch. Being on one level, the Bower House is very suitable for those with limited mobility, although wheel chair users would need a companion.

Morland is 8 miles south-east of Penrith, 6 miles north-east of Shap and 7 miles north west of Appleby. It is an equidistant 25 miles from Kendal to the south, Keswick to the west, Carlisle to the north, and Alston to the east.
